The crew taking part in the Clipper 13-14 Race will take on some of the toughest environments on the planet. Conditions including exhaustion, huge waves and lack of personal space on board a 70-foot yacht make for a challenging adventure.

As part of the Clipper Race game you too can compete on the same route as the twelve-strong fleet from your computer.

Arguably, as addictive as following the real yachts on the Race Viewer is, the official Clipper Race Game adds an extra dimension.

More than 100,000 people are expected to play the game; players will be tasked with deciding upon navigation, sail plan and boat design. Friends, family and work colleagues will battle it out over the 16 individual races, kicking off on Monday 2 September - the same day as the Clipper 13-14 Race fleet start their sprint to Best in France.

There are some great prizes up for grabs with the overall winner of the Clipper Race Game receiving a week’s Level 1 training aboard a ‘real’ Clipper Race yacht!

You can register and play the game here.

The next stage of the Clipper Race game will get underway on 26 December when the fleet begins the race to Hobart as part of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Race 6 of the Clipper Race game will get underway at 0200 UTC (1300 local time in Sydney, Australia).

The game enables players to pit their wits against the same weather and route as the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race fleet.

Some great prizes are also up for grabs!

First place overall is a week’s Level One Clipper Race training in the UK with second place overall winning a GoPro camera. The top three overall will also win a bottle of Old Pulteney Navigator whiskey.

Plus winners of the following individual races will win a Rotary watch: Race 7 to Brisbane, Australia, Race 9 to China, Race 10 to San Francisco, Race 13 to New York and Race 14 to Derry-Londonderry.

The top three of each individual race will also win an Old Pulteney beanie, just like the ones worn by the crew on board the ocean racing yacht.

If that isn’t enough everyone who registers to play has the opportunity to enter a competition to win a place on the Pacific Leg of the Clipper 15-16 Race, inclusive of 3-weeks training in the UK.
