Old Pulteney heads to the Scotland Boat Show
25 September 2014
Old Pulteney is heading out
on the high seas once again as she gets ready to head north to take centre
stage at the Scotland Boat Show.
“It will be a really proud moment to sail Old
Pulteney to Scotland for its first visit,” skipper Patrick van der Zijden
tells Race HQ, with his kilt at the ready.
“We sailed around the top of the country in the final leg of the race but never
had the opportunity to stop. I really enjoyed the excellent hospitality of our
Scottish sponsors around the world and I’m now excited to experience it in
person at the Scotland Boat Show.”
Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to get a closer look on board
the stripped down yacht, which will be making its debut at the show and
representing the ‘maritime malt’ distilled in the north of Scotland at Wick.
The Scottish Whisky brand’s yacht will be showcased in front of
thousands of visitors at the Scotland
Boat Show, between 10-12 October being staged on the Clyde, near Glasgow.
After racing around the world on board it will be some of Old Pulteney’s race crew who will join Patrick for the trip
“We’re really looking forward to showing potential new crew members
around Old Pulteney. It will be
interesting to see who will take up the challenge to represent Scotland in the
next race.”
If you’re visiting the show and interested in taking up the challenge of the race,
Crew Recruitment and Development Director, David Cusworth is holding free crew
presentations on the RYA stage.
-Friday, 10 October, 13:30 to 14:30
-Saturday, 11 October at 10:30 to 11:30
