Qingdao Yacht Inspired by Tradition
02 April 2019
Qingdao’s 16 year Clipper Race heritage has inspired the branding for the 2019-20 edition of the global ocean challenge.
China’s Sailing City has featured in every race since 2005, making Qingdao the longest serving Host Port and Team Partner in the event’s history.
For race number eight, the distinctive red hull and golden dragon will once again be the focus of the design, which will be seen by millions of people around the world as the Clipper Race fleet of eleven yachts races into 13 ports across six continents.
It took two experts approximately 18 hours to brand the 70-foot ocean racing yacht. The Qingdao yacht, like the other ten in the Clipper Race fleet, was built in Qingdao and has already completed three circumnavigations of the globe.
The Clipper Race teams will arrive at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre in early 2020, with the crew to yet again be treated to the hero’s welcome Qingdao has become legendary for.
This is the second yacht to be branded for the upcoming Clipper 2019-20 Race, with fellow Chinese team Zhuhai the first to be unveiled last month.
