Relive Sir Robin’s Route du Rhum campaign on BBC TV News Channel
13 December 2014
Last month, at 75 years old, our founder and chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston returned to solo ocean racing by taking on the 3500 mile transatlantic French classic Route du Rhum
BBC TV reporter Chris Eakin joined Sir Robin on his delivery voyage aboard Grey Power from Portsmouth Harbour to St Malo. He then maintained contact with the boat through regular live video links as the Open 60 progressed towards Guadeloupe and steadily up the leaderboard as Sir Robin fought for a podium place, ultimately finishing third in the Rhum Class.
You can relive Sir Robin’s journey in a special half hour programme which gets its first airing at 1430 GMT today (Saturday 13 December) and tomorrow at 1030 GMT on the BBC TV News Channel.
But if you’re out Christmas shopping this weekend don’t panic as it will be repeated several times over the holiday period including Christmas Eve at 1030, Christmas Day at 1530, Boxing Day at 1130 and New Year’s Day at 1930.
