Since we last wrote, Race 13: Oban Atlantic Homecoming has continued to give us lovely sailing conditions! We managed to hook into some good current heading east, which gave us some incredible boat speeds over the past 48 hours. We have been jumping seamlessly between spinnaker sailing and white sails, and the crew have been getting on fantastically, with both watches helping each other out to keep the evolutions quick. Today we had a tense couple of hours as the wind dropped and shifted unfavourably on our final approach towards the Scoring Gate. We could see Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam ahead of us similarly parked up, while Perseverance had a nice angle and good speed. It felt all too familiar, with the looming memory of the North Pacific Finish Line. Much to our delight, the wind backed enough for us to pop the Windseeker up and make it across the Scoring Gate in second place! It feels great to have two points and to now be sailing with some very speedy friends on this eastern edge. With a low pressure rolling over, and a very split fleet, it is setting up for an exciting second half of the race!
